I remember that incident when many guests were to visit my house and there were spill marks all over my carpet. I’d no clue (at that time) as to how could I get rid of those dried food spill stains that my dog had left on the beautiful carpet. I had to spend a fortune on buying cleaning solutions and machines to get rid of those stains.
Little did I know then that I already had the best carpet cleaning solutions lying in my house. Yes, you read that right! But you would wonder how did I not know about it? Well, you may call it a lack of experimentation.
I’m pretty sure that most of you, who are reading this, are least aware that you too have the best cleaning solutions present in your home right now. Okay, be patient, I’ll make it clear shortly. You don’t need to spend dollars (like my poor self did) on store-bought carpet cleaning solutions when you can prepare them by yourself, utilizing some ingredients already available at your home.
However, if you’re wrapped up with office work most of the time and don’t wanna spare your precious time on preparing homemade solutions, you might make use of some best commercial carpet cleaning solutions (I’ve listed some of them in this article).
So, let’s quickly see the tips and tricks of preparing the best cleaning solutions at your own home.
Best Homemade Carpet Cleaners
1. Carpet-Cleaning Solution (to be used in washing machines)
Some store-bought carpet cleaning solutions may leave a nasty smell behind. In such cases, you may prefer a homemade carpet cleaning solution over readymade solutions.
Their cleaning is as good as the readymade solutions and they also smell wonderful, thereby having an upper hand over some readymade solutions (apart from having no or low cost, of course).
Ingredients required to prepare your solution are:
- ¼ cup hydrogen peroxide
- 1 ½ cup dishwashing liquid
- 1 ½ tablespoon distilled white vinegar
- 1 ½ quart hot water
- 1 tablespoon fabric softener
- Few drops of any essential oil
Method of use: Mix the above-mentioned ingredients well in a large bowl or container. Add the dish liquid at last so that bubbles are not formed. Now, pour the mixture into the soap tank of your machine.
Precaution: Before adding hydrogen peroxide to the mixture, test it on a small latent surface of your carpet. If the carpet changes color or doesn’t react well to it, don’t include it in the mixture.
