1. As a Floor Cleaner
Alka seltzer makes an amazing floor cleaner. Just add 4-5 tablets of Alka-Seltzer in a mop bucket filled with warm water and your homemade floor cleaner is ready. Then, mop with that around the house.
These tablets work great in cleaning the floor and can be an effective substitute for the shop-bought chemical laded cleaning agents.
2. Replace Your Market Bought All-purpose Cleaner
Why spend money on expensive all-purpose cleaner from the market when you can make one at your home?
If Alka-Seltzer can be used for cleaning the floor, then it can be used for cleaning other surfaces as well. After all, it contains all brilliant cleaning agents namely aspirin, citric acid, and baking soda.
All you need to do is to put two tablets in six ounces of warm water and allow them to dissolve. After it has dissolved completely, fill it in a spray bottle. Your all-purpose cleaner is ready, you can use it to clean glass, tub, plastic, marble, and other surfaces easily.

3. Clean Your White Clothes
It’s so easy for white-colored garments to turn yellow. The worst part is removing the stains which are difficult even with the most intense brushing.
But, you can easily get rid of yellow smudges from your white pieces of cotton by soaking your whites in a solution of four quarts of water and two Alka-Seltzer tablets. Allow the cloth to soak overnight. Then hang your cloth under the sun if there is any leftover yellowishness. Your clothes will look white again!
4. Unclog the Drain
Unclog the clogged drain by combining the cleaning action of vinegar and these tablets. All you need to do is to drop two three tablets of Alka-Seltzer down the drain and then pour around a cup of vinegar over it. Let the mixture sit for 10-15 minutes. The mixture will react and foam up to loosen the grime which has clogged up the drain.
Meanwhile, boil around a gallon of hot water, and empty it down the drain after the 15 minutes are over. The water will take away any leftover residue with it. You may need to repeat the treatment if the clog is too stubborn. An added advantage of this treatment is that it will also eliminate any foul smell.
5. Cleaning the Toilet
Cleaning the toilet is one of the most hated jobs. This is something we wish to be away from but it needs to be done. Also, it’s a difficult task due to the vigorous scrubbing required to clean the grime and gunk. But, you don’t need to work so hard to clean your toilet if you have Alka-seltzer tablets.
Just drop 2 tablets of Alka-Seltzer in the bowl and leave it for 20-25 minutes. The chemicals in the tablet especially citric acid will work on the grime and loosen it. It will do most of your work which otherwise you have done by vigorous scrubbing. Now you just have to do a quick scrub after the tablets have acted on the commode. Flush!
It will also eradicate any foul smell and make the commode odorless along with making your bathroom clean.

6. Easily Clean a Deep Vase
Do you have a narrow stem deep vase that you find very difficult to clean? Yes, it is difficult to clean because there is no space to get inside and clean it. You may reach down using some narrow brush, but that will not give it a proper clean.
So an easy way to clean it easily and properly is to fill it to an extent with warm water (don’t fill it completely) and drop 2-3 tablets of Alka-Seltzer. The water will fizz up as you add the tablet (that’s why you don’t need to fill it completely). Now, wait for 10-15 minutes and then empty the solution.
Once done, fill it with water and shake the vase. The gunk and dirt inside the vase will be loosened and then flow out with the flow of water when you empty it. Or you can also place the vase under a faucet and turn on the faucet so that the water enters the vase with high pressure and the loosened grime gets off easily.
7. Clean Your Jewelry
Jewelry gets dirty real quick. So you end up spending a good sum of money on jewelry cleaner. Do you know that you don’t need a jewelry cleaner if you have Alka-Seltzer tablets with you?
Yes, that’s right! All you need to do is to drop some tablets in a glass or bowl of hot water. Then, put the jewelry which you want to clean in that glass or bowl and keep it in for 2-5 minutes. You will see the oxidation and grime coating dissolving leaving your clean jewelry behind. I think this is one of the easiest methods to clean jewelry.
Warning: This cleaning process is not suitable for every kind of jewelry especially pearls and opals. Alka seltzer should never be used to clean them.
8. Clean Bathroom Tiles
Along with cleaning the toilet, Alka-seltzer tablets can be used for cleaning bathroom tiles too. Just dissolve 4-5 tablets in 10 ounces of warm water. After the tablets have dissolved completely, transfer the solution into a spray bottle. Tada! You have your homemade tile cleaner ready.
Spray it on the tiles and scrub with the help of a sponge. Allow the solution to sit on the tile for 10-15 minutes before rinsing and you made a part of bathroom cleaning easy.
9. Cleaning Tea and Coffee Stains in Mugs and Cups
The tea and coffee stains that accumulate on mugs and cups with time are not removed by your regular wash. That’s true but Alka seltzer tablets can work their magic here as well by making stain removal easy.
To make your cup look as good as new, fill it with hot water and drop an Alka-Seltzer tablet in. Leave it for 10-15 minutes and scrub a bit before emptying the solution. Done!
10. Cleaning the Coffee Maker
Alka-Seltzer is a boon for coffee lovers as it can be used for easy cleaning of the coffee maker. Make a solution of 3-4 Alka-Seltzer tablets and ten ounces of water. Fill it in the coffee maker and run it through a brew cycle. It will easily clean all those hard-to-reach components.
After it is done, run another one or two cycles with normal water unless you don’t mind tasting the residues of Alka-Seltzer in your next cup of coffee. I certainly don’t want to taste Alka-Seltzer the first thing in the morning.
